Fraunhofer IWU
Client
The Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology works on research and development in the field of production technology for the automotive and mechanical engineering sectors.
They focus on the development of intelligent production systems for the manufacturing of car bodies and powertrain components.
Challenge
The Fraunhofer Institute was looking for an institutional seating solution for its central auditorium that fulfilled the requirements of a modern lecture hall. The basic concept was to combine design and function to create an architecturally inspiring whole. The new VR-Technikum building (Virtual Reality Technology) integrates an innovative solution both for research and education.
The client was impressed with the DSC Axis 9000 range, and selected these for the auditorium. Haworth installed 180 fixed seats in 10 rows, divided by one main aisle in the middle as well as an aisle on each side (9 seats per row). The seat and back upholstery helps optimise acoustics.
The DSC Axis 9000 seats flip up to ensure easy access along the row, and each chair is equipped with a folding table. The combination of colour and material is designed to harmonise with the room, creating a positive environment for concentration and effective learning.
Scope
- 1 lecture hall
- 180 institutional seats
